The roar of the crowd, the pounding of drums, and the vibrant school colors filled the bleachers as Weir High kicked off the year with an unforgettable pep rally! What do you get when you mix school spirit, crazy games, and a whole bunch of cheering for our Weir High band? Rider pride. From the thrilling Dynamic duos from our homecoming court, feeling the suspension as our homecoming kings picks up their chairs to see who wins!
This year the lucky Jackson Bonner, Senior, picked up the right chair to win our 2025 homecoming king. I got to speak to Bonner about his thoughts on winning and if he likes the way we picked king. he said, “I am extremely excited and grateful. I like the way we picked king, and I got lucky because God was on my side.” Bonner had a lucky senior homecoming and will forever cherish these memories from Weir high.
I spoke to some Weir High students about their thoughts on our pep rally’s. First, I talked to Ahnesti Cohen, Sophomore, about her opinion, and she claimed that “The pep rallies are incredibly fun and important to our school’s spirit. They give students a chance to have fun and not be caught up in their work all the time. I wish the pep rallies lasted a little longer because the games are a little too short but overall, I would not change to much.”
We talked to our pep club leader, Jason Angle, History teacher at Weir High, about his future with pep club and he says, “I originally was not going to do it this year but I decided to do it again to keep Weir High’s pep club running. I want to get new people in this club to kick the old ones aside.” Angle loves his pep club!
I also spoke to Jackson Guthrie, Senior, who was involved in the homecoming skit as the Hamburglar with Madelyn Cramer, Senior, who played Ronald McDonald, and Hunter Anotl, Senior, who played grimace. Guthrie says that his favorite part was running onto the court stealing the burgers.
Our pep rallies mean a lot to others. They are fun and eventful. Weir high enjoys the experiences they give to us. Our pep rallies is a fantastic way to ignite school spirit and create a sense of unity among students and staff. These successful pep rallies not only celebrates our teams but also recognizes the hard work and dedication of all students involved in extracurricular activities. Our energy and enthusiasm makes Weir High great.
