This year, Weir High has one foreign exchange student that has joined us for the year. Samuel Quaranta, an Italian student who has wanted to study abroad, will study here, at Weir High, for the remaining months the of the semester.
With the knowledge that being a new student can be tough, especially in a new country, Quaranta adapted quickly as he found his place in a welcoming environment where everyone is curious and eager to meet him.
Quaranta arrived with an open mind to try new things here at Weir High School. He made the switch to the Weir High soccer team with previous experience as he is a four-year member of the Monvecatini Murialdo soccer team. Ending his soccer season with 1 goal, Quaranta shares that he enjoys playing with his teammates, even through their ups and
downs as a team. Although his season with the soccer team has come to a close, he still carries his experiences and friendships with him.
About halfway through the season, Quaranta made the decision to join the football team, and held the position of kicker for the remainder of the season. As the season comes to an end, Quaranta states that, “It was a great experience, because we don’t have this sport in Italy.” Given the opportunity to play a brand new sport was a one in a life time experience he was grateful to be able to be apart of.
