McDonald’s of Three Rivers celebrated national beverage day on May 6 with a VIP tasting event to unveil their new line of premium beverages, and Weir Student Media was invited.

Strawberry Watermelon Refresher* blends sweet strawberry and watermelon flavors with a lemonade base, plus freeze‑dried strawberries for an extra burst of flavor and visual flair. - Mango Pineapple Refresher* mixes tropical mango and pineapple flavors with a lemonade base and strawberry popping boba to deliver a juicy burst of flavor.
- Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher* pairs bold blackberry and passion fruit flavors with lemonade alongside freeze‑dried dragon fruit for a touch of sweetness and a pop of color.
- Sprite® Berry Blast infuses our iconic Sprite® with a sweet blue raspberry syrup – topped off with decadent cold foam as the final touch.
- Orange Dream is a twist on the fan-favorite Hi‑C® Orange Lavaburst at McDonald’s mixed with a hint of vanilla flavor and finished with cold foam for a smooth, dreamy citrus sip.
- Dirty Dr Pepper® layers classic Dr Pepper® flavor with a vanilla flavor and a cloud of cold foam to create a rich finish.
Weir Student Media’s staff manager Hailey Hans and publicist Kaylee Webster attended the event at Weirton’s location and reflected on the experience.
“My favorite part of the McDonald’s night was definitely getting to try out the drinks. My favorite drink was the Orange Dream. I loved getting to meet all the people, and there were some fun games and music which was really nice. It was just a great overall experience. And I got to bring some of the people I love with me, which was really fun,” said Hans.
“My favorite part about the McDonald’s night was definitely getting try all the new fun drinks. My favorite one was definitely the blue sprite. It was also nice because we got to meet a whole bunch of important people. We got to talk with the mayor, and we also got to make a TikTok with Grimace,” said Webster.
Sophomore, Arianna Pulliam also attend the event with her parent, who is Weirton’s Assistant City Manager. “It’s been fun. It’s been cool to try all of the new drinks,” said Pulliam.
Local media outlets and officials also joined in, including 106.1 The River, The Weirton Daily Times, Weirton’s Chamber of Commerce, Weirton Police Department and Mayor Dean Harris, who spoke at the event and presented a certificate of appreciation to owner Trey Locke for investing in Weirton by establishing and continuing to enhance his business for the community.
To elevate the menu, McDonalds also partnered with designer Susan Alexandra to create six limited-edition beaded drink carriers that each come with a $10 McDonald’s Arch Card. Carriers will be available for purchase on SusanAlexandra.com while supplies last.
