Debuting in January 2026, the famous cheer advocate, ” Varsity Spirit”, which is a widely known organization for cheerleading equipment, launched the “Pro Cheer League”. Anyone can find their content on Instagram or TikTok under @procheerleague. This organization is giving competitive cheerleaders a professional, elite title to their name. This is huge considering the controversy of cheer not being considered a sport for quite some time.
The pro athletes are now being paid part time, and the requirements are to be 18+. There are 4 teams as of now, Atlanta Air, Dallas Drive, Miami Metal, and San Diego Golden State Grit. For the season there are 5 events across the US for them to complete in, the first competition takes place in Indianapolis, the onto Atlanta and Houston, then a march showdown in Anaheim, and ending the season off with the finale in Nashville.
The cheerleaders compete by doing head-to-head challenges with rounds by competing with tumbling, elite stunting, who can build pyramids faster, and “sticking” tumbling on a bullseye perfectly. All of these challenges prove to people how cheerleading really is and hopefully gives cheerleaders the appreciation they deserve.
