As you may know Weir High officially released a new hall pass called Securly. This new pass has been created to help keep things organized and keep the staff updated. Has it been helpful or has it just added more stress to the list?
Student perspective:
As a student at Weir High once the pass was official, I took some time to observe some of the students view on the pass. At first, everyone was in a panic because this was something new to us all and we had so many questions, students found the pass confusing and also harder to be able to get out of class.
“I think the new Securly hall pass is unnecessary. We shouldn’t be limited to two passes a day and have to wait for approval.” -Allison best (senior).
“I think that it’s better at keeping track of who’s gone but it’s more work having to be accepted by the teacher and then being timed and flagged for being out past only a couple minutes. I personally like the old one better.” – Maleigha Stromile (senior).
“I think it’s worse because it takes too long and there was nothing wrong with the old pass to begin with.” -Evan Baker (sophomore).
After questioning many students at Weir High their perspective of the new hall pass its clear they all have similar views on the new pass.
Staff perspective:
The teachers and staff at Weir High were just as confused and overwhelmed when the new pass was released. After some time, things got better.
I asked Mr. Hill what he thought of the new pass and how it compares to the old one and he said, “ I think the new hall pass is going well, I think it’s streamline to process for kids to leave class, go to the restroom, the nurse, or another teacher wherever they’re going and it also gives us real time information to know when kids are out in the hallway and where they’re going so if something happens we are able to watch out for them. All the other features that are on it like being able to see how long students have been out of class and how many times they’ve been out.”
This shows securely offers many new features and benefits to not staff but staff as well.
The new pass has its ups and downs, but I think we could all agree it’s very useful and will help keep this school in track and keep the students and staff updated as well.
