The holidays are coming, and families are going shopping. While they are shopping, they must watch for how much money they are spending on certain things this year. Prices have gone up due to inflation over the past few months. In the last 5 years prices have increased then have decreased but they are higher than they were last year.
I talked to Mr. Lewis stated, “I have to buy a lot less gifts than I did last year because of my budget.” Ms. Smith Montgomery pointed out “we shop for the angels every year, and we usually give the students 40 dollars to spend. We have done this for the last 5 years and it has worked but now 40 dollars can barely buy anything this year.”
Families may have to cut back on what they do, like their traditions or any activities that they love to do every year. Many families are resorting to shopping for sales more now than any time in the past. A perfect example of this is “Black Friday”.
According to economists, Black Friday sales topped one billion dollars. If you watched the news over the Thanksgiving break, you saw the large amounts of shoppers waiting in line outside the malls or outlets trying to be the first to get the sales prices.
One interview I watched had a shopper who said they were waiting in line since 10pm Thanksgiving night in temperatures that hovered around thirty-five degrees just to get the sales price so she could stay within her budget.
