The ThRed riders have been threading up some new prints and designs, for clubs, casts, and sports! Our newest prints were for the Addams Family musical cast. This club is mostly student-led, but of course, they still have help from Ms. Dotson!
Our students print, press, and design the shirts that you wear. They make the shirts by ordering the designs that are made online, then printing them onto shirts using the printing press. The club has pop-up shops at town events, school events, and even restaurants to sell their merchandise. There are about 10 students in the club, which is more than enough but the more help, the faster they can make merchandise.
I have interviewed a few members and Ms. Dotson, and here is what they had to say.
Who should be president of the club, what challenges they’ve faced, what motivated them to join, and what events would you like to bring the club to?
Ruby Magee said that Jamie Bissett or Bella Huebel should be president. A challenge she’s noticed within this group is trying to work together efficiently, her motivation to join was because she loves graphic design and it’s rewarding to see her designs worn by others, finally an event she’d like to bring the club to is Christmas on Main Street.
Josiah Calauad said that Ruby Magee should be the president and said a challenge he’s faced was selling clothes at football games. His motivation to join was to work with friends, and Ms. Dotson. Finally, an event he’d like to bring the club to is any Vendor event.
Violetta Mangone said that Ruby Magee should be president. A challenge Violetta has faced is selling clothing and merchandise. Then, her motivation to join was because she loves graphic design. Finally, an event she’d like to attend to is Christmas on Main Street.
I asked Ms. Dotson these questions. What are some challenges you’ve faced, how’s business going so far? Do you think you’ll bring the online shop back? And what are some valuable skills that members can learn from this club.
Ms. Dotson said a challenge she’s faced is having a staff member who’s fully committed to putting in the work needed to run the group. Next, she stated that short staffing and the new A/B schedule are threatening the existence of the club. In addition, she believes that the online store can be brought back if we get another site up and running. Finally, she said some skills that students might find valuable are practicing selling strategies and learning how to make shirts.
