Something spooky is brewing in the theater of Weir High School—it’s the production of a musical. Drama club is proud to present to you, the Addams Family! A new comedy musical based on the original production of the characters created by Charles Addams.
Unlike previous versions of the Addams Family on TV, this musical follows Wednesday Addams as she reveals her relationship to her family with her “normal” boyfriend, Lucas Beineke. The Addams invite the Beineke’s, a very average family, over to dinner in hopes of having a normal night. “The show celebrates family, acceptance, and being true to yourself. I hope audiences leave smiling and reminded that being ‘different’ is a strength.”- Mr. Miller, director of the musical, who choreographs and leads the rehearsals.
The production stars Gigi Mastrantoni as the lead Wednesday Addams, and Caden Runkel as Gomez, her devoted but dramatic father. Lana Sauer plays Morticia, her elegant and eerie mother, and Rylan Summers plays her mischievous brother, Pugsley. Also, there is Wednesday’s boyfriend, Lucas Beineke, who is played by Jarek Devault. Lucas’s father, Mal, is played by Chasper Gray, and his mother, Alice, is played by Sydney Dunlap.
For the rest of the cast, they are looking for more male ancestors! If you’re interested, talk to Mr. Miller in A202, or email him. Don’t be shy!
If you’re looking for advice on joining any musical/play, here’s some words from Drama Clubs former president, Gracie Beagle. “My advice is just to really pay attention to those who have been in the productions longer, and to have fun. Enjoy yourself. It’s acting.” One day, you may be playing the lead role in a musical.

Gigi Mastrantoni, who plays Wednesday, shared her experience in acting and being in this production. “Something I always wanted to do was be in a musical and act, and I am SO happy I finally have the opportunity to! I love being in theatre and performing in musicals so much. It allows me to express my creative, performing side and it had given me the opportunity to make so many new friends!” If you’re thinking about it, try it.
Doors open for performances at the Weir High Auditorium on November 21- 22, at 6:30pm, and November 23, at 1:30pm. Tickets are $10 per person. Grab your friends and prepare to be entertained. The Addams Family is dying to meet you!
