This spring, our high school’s auditorium will be filled with positive energy, and nonstop music as the drama club, and theater presents Mamma Mia! This beloved musical has captured hearts around the world. With its vibrant story, lively choreography, and unforgettable songs, this production is sure to be one of the most exciting events of the season weir high school.

Set on a beautiful Greek island, Mamma Mia follows Sophie, a young woman preparing for her wedding, who secretly invites three men from her Donna’s past in hopes of discovering which one is her father. Sophie is played by Weir Highs Lana Sauer, and Ella Martin. I talked to Sauer about how she feels on getting the lead role, “I am so excited that I was able to get this role. This is one of my dream roles and it is finally coming true.” I also talked to Martin, “This role means the world to me, I always try and do my best to get the roles I want, and I did,” The spring musical prep is in full swing.

Our cast and crew have been working incredibly hard to bring this production to life. From learning complex dance numbers to performing harmonies, students have dedicated countless hours after school and on weekends. The behind the scenes crew has also been busy designing colorful sets, creating eye catching costumes, and making sure every technical detail runs smoothly. Their teamwork and commitment truly showcase the talent within our school.

I also talked to Andre Diaz about how he feels getting the lead male role as sky, “I never thought in a million years that I would go out for a spring musical. Let alone get the lead amen role.” Mamma Mia is more that just a musical. It reminds us to take chances, embrace life, and appreciate people who support us along the way. Weather you are a longtime fan of the musical, seeing it for the first time, this production promises laughter, emotion, and plenty of moments that will have you wanting to sing along.
