In the Summer of 2023, the FIFA Women’s World Cup took place in Australia and New Zealand. The Women’s FIFA World Cup is held every 4 years and has 32 teams and 5 confederations competing for the cup. The World Cup first took place in the year 1991 and was hosted by China. The United States claimed their first title during the first world cup by defeating Norway 2-1. Soccer is known as the most popular sport in the world. It’s origins come from ancient China, but the modern game of soccer came from the streets of medieval England.

Although this year the U.S. Women’s team was predicted to win the tournament due to their previous appearances in the past year, Spain came away with the victory. Spain had not won a World Cup since 2010.
