Homecoming Week

Homecoming week at Weir High is filled with much spirit and fun activities! Our spirit week themes consist of Monday- Barbie VS Ken, students dress up as any type of Barbie character. Tuesday- Bikers VS Surfers, wear all your leather or come ready to surf. Wednesday- Twin day, find a partner and wear matching outfits. Thursday- Decades Day, find an outfit from back in time. Friday-Red Rider Pride, students dress up in red and black. Each day students dress up as these themes to show their excitement for homecoming.

Friday, during second block students will be called down to the gym for a pep rally. There, the students who were voted on homecoming court will be a part of a skit. Emily Gump, a contender for homecoming queen, says, “I think it is going to be very fun for us and for the crowd and I think it will be funny to see people’s reactions to our costumes.” After, the Kings Court will play several games that PEP club created. PEP club president, Lexie Fayak, states, “The pep rally will consist of three to four activities that will lead up to the final big event to decide the crowning of the homecoming king. The band, dance, and cheer team will be performing. We have been preparing for a week or two now, so we hope everyone enjoys!” The King will be randomly chosen from the last game they play.

Friday Night- Parade and Game

The Queens court parades through town in cars waving and throwing candy before making their way to the football game. Other students from each grade make a float for their class to ride in hoping to win the competition of most creative float. Once the court arrives at the Jimmy Carey Stadium, the queens court cars will be parked om the side of the football field.

At halftime, the queen’s court lines up with their parents and guardians to walk through the middle of the field. Once announced, the queen walks through the field to their chair. After all queens have been called, Andrew Manteau, FBLA President, will carry a basket of covered roses to each girl to pick from. Once each candidate picks their rose, they will all unwrap them at the same time. The candidate that reveals the red rose wins queen and the candidate that reveals a pink rose will win princess. Once the queen is shown Rylie Baker, last year’s homecoming queen, will present them with flowers and their crown.

Dance

Our dance is on Saturday October 30. Andrew Manteau created the theme Imaginarium Gala. The dance will be filled with illusions and creativity from the imagination. Andrews concept for this idea came from the movie “Alice in Wonderland.” There will be bright colors, decks of cards, mushrooms, and fantasy décor. Have a wonderful time!
