The Studying Habits of Students

The Studying Habits of Students

Katelyn Berdine, Staff Writer

Studying is a good habit to have. Especially in the future and in the present. So, it’s important to start having these habits now. Some students think it’s important to study because it does impact their grades.

“I believe it’s very important to study. I believe looking over important notes helps you remember even if it’s only for a few minutes. It’s very easy to forget stuff and eventually I found out the repetition of studying has genuinely made an impact on my grades,” Freshman Lillien Roberts said.

Though some students disagree with the importance of studying because maybe they don’t need to or maybe they don’t think they need to. Maybe it depends on what the student needs to study or not.

“Yes and No. For certain classes I study more,” Junior Mea Kaufman said.

While test scores improve, students find what studying method works for them and how long they study for. Some student study just before the test and some study days before.

“I study for almost every test and for however long I need to to feel comfortable with the information,” Junior Olivia Baker said.

While they study students find what environment they study best in.

“I study better in not complete silence. I need a little background noise or music, but it can’t be too overwhelming,” Sophomore Sarah Stewart said.

Though some students may also might not need to study because they don’t think they need to, because they already go to school, or study just doesn’t work for them. So, they don’t think it’s important to study.

“No, study never worked for me,” Junior Cole Caranda said.

Even though studying habits can be hard to get into it can be really important to try to start. Especially when trying to find a place to study and what works for you. From a survey taken by Weir High Students only 21 percent of students know what studying methods work for them. While 32 percent of students are still looking for what method works best for them.

“I believe it is important to study, even though you might dread it. Studying helps your brain and memorize everything you need to know to get a good grade,” Freshman Emma Nichols said.

Good Study Habits

• Don’t Cram last minute

• Ask for help from your teachers if you don’t understand the topic

• Find the best studying method that works for you

• Take a break and slow down

• Don’t just read information because that is just memorizing the information and not learning it

• Listen to music because silence might not be what works for you

• Go to places where you cannot be distracted or a place that doesn’t have many distractions

• Study more than one time. make dates or time to study.
