Effects of Listening to Music in School

Listening to music in school is vastly opinionated throughout weir high school. While many students and staff members believe that you should be able to, others think it should not be allowed.

Music can cause both positive and negative effects in the classroom. During interviews many students said that music helps them focus and concentrate during class.

Lorenzo Liberto says,” Yes, students should be allowed to listen to music because it helps them focus”.

Other students also claimed that it helped them work better.

Devon Colson claims,” a lot of students work better when listening to music”.

Although many kids say that music helps them in many different ways some teachers claim that it is a distraction to the students themselves and to surrounding students.

Dr. Ciszek said, “No, students should not be able to listen to music because for one, some students play their music too loud, and other students can hear it, and it could lead to distracting them. Second, they aren’t able to hear the teacher, leading the teacher to repeat herself”.

Listening to music can be depicted in a few different ways, but most students and teachers think that music should be allowed.

Mrs. Williams said,” yes, students should be able to listen to music because it helps them stay focused.”
