New School Construction

This month of October, Weir High acquired exciting new equipment to improve their athletic department.

Athletic director, Donna Ferguson stated, “Gym bleachers should be completed mid October.”

With this timeline, students are excited for the new improvements, and are anticipating the final outcome.

Junior athletes, Addison Mikula and Jordyn Ferguson both concluded the addition they were most interested in were the bleachers. They were glad the colors coordinated with our school, and were more up to date.

All around, the additions also benefit our athletes.

Volleyball coach, Francesca Capaldi stated, “I think it was time for an upgrade! Our athletes deserve to play on newly renovated turf and in a gym that is kept up to date regarding safety standards.”

Although, downsides exist, and noise being one of them.

Capaldi continues, “It gives our girls quite the headache during practice when they are drilling, sanding, and putting the bleachers together, but the outcome is worth it!”

Before the bleachers, Weir High received a renovated turf field for the football and soccer players to enjoy.

Soccer player, Johnny Kirlangitis stated, “I think the new design of the field looks great. I like that the whole field is dark green instead of the colors alternating every 10 yards. I also believe that the yellow lines for soccer is a great addition. Some people have mixed opinions on the lines being yellow but I personally think the lines on the field are more visible now because they are much brighter. It was a very nice addition to our school.”

The field provided a wonderful addition towards fellow peers and athletes. The players love the new additions, and the coaches are pleased their athletes are being granted the best equipment under the county’s funding.
