1.Who would have guessed, our top fall trend is Ugg Boots! These boots first became popular in the early 2000’s, with a taller style than you would see now. In the 2010’s Ugg’s released many assorted styles of comfortable shoes which kept them known throughout the years. By the 2020s Uggs made a full comeback. According to college Fashionistas timline on the popularity of Ugg boots, “ This style is a lowkey take on a classic style and looks cute on everyone wearing them”. Anywhere you go your sure to see a few pairs.
2. Skirts have been an on-going trend in women’s fashion for decades. The style of skirts has varied remarkably over the years, not only did this piece of clothing show different eras but the Fashion Gone Rogue website said, “The evolution of the skirt throughout history aligns with the development of feminism and women’s rights”. In the 19th century skirts went through many alterations. They started out as full length, but by the 1920’s women’s skirts were knee-length. Once the Great Depression hit in the 1930’s women were forced back into full length skirt, because it showed the economic insecurities. . For the next two decades the second World War majorly affected the fashion world. Women were expected to take on the men’s roles at home, while they were off fighting, so the common outfit for women became trousers. Women gained more freedom in the 1960s and 70s, they began wearing more revealing and easier to move in clothes. This time was also when the definitive 60s mini skirt was introduced. Today many different types of skirts are worn, but this fall denim skirts seem to be the most popular. These skirts are a midi length and vary in different fabrics.
3. Everyone knows sweaters are a classic staple for the cooler seasons. When the sweater first emerged, they were referred to as knitted garments. Fishermen first used knitted garments as a way to stay warm when they were out in the sea. Sweaters became more used as a rent; V-neck lines were worn by movie stars to show wealth and fame in the 1930s. Athletes started to wear them as warm up attire and named them sweaters, which is now the proper name for them. Now off the shoulder sweaters have become not only a comfort clothing but also a popular fashion item.
4. Leather jackets have been an inconsistent trend, but this fall it’s making an appearance once again. They were first seen in the early 1900s as a type of military clothing. In the 1920s people began wearing these jackets as a fashion garment. A few decades later they started to appear on movie screens. The 60s had a new meaning for the leather jacket, they were looked at as a symbol of rock and roll. After years of the leather jackets being more of a male clothing piece, female musicians made wearing the jacket fashionable for women. Leather jackets are a timeless piece, and perfect for the cooler seasons.
5. One of the most popular prints for many years is leopard print. This print was worn in the early 1900s as a way of showing wealth. In the 40s and 50s American pin-up girls adopted the new leopard print, bringing even more attention to this upcoming trend. By the 60s leopard print was being worn all over the world. So many wanted to have a piece of clothing in this print, that hundreds of jaguars and leopards were killed to meet the demand. Because of this many protested for animal rights, and faux fur was introduced. Leopard print continues to reach top trends each year.
