NTHS Hosts WV College Decision Week

In a new event, National Technical Honor Society, guided by adviser Kristin Palavis, sponsored a WV Decision Spirit week from May 1-5, which ended with a signing event for the Class of 2023.

The club hosted activities during lunch periods each day inviting seniors to share and celebrate their post-secondary plans.

College Decision Day recognizes students who have committed to continuing their education and training beyond high school, including those who plan to pursue a two-year or four-year degree, a career or technical certificate, a workforce training program or military service.

As stated on its website, “West Virginia’s College Decision Day initiative is part of a growing national effort to celebrate seniors for their postsecondary plans and assist them and their families in enrolling in and transitioning to college.”

College for West Virginia has initiated three statewide college-planning milestone events that help guide seniors and their families in planning, applying, paying for and enrolling in college: College Application and Exploration Week,  FAFSA completion events and College Decision Day. High schools that participate in all three activities and complete the required post-event surveys will be recognized in Fall 2023 as a CFWV Champion of College Access and Success.

NTHS is also selling Yard Signs for the Class of 2023 to display along Red Rider Road the week of graduation. The signs cost $25 for one side and $30 for two sided signs. Seniors can pick them up after the commencement ceremony on May 24. All orders are due by Friday, May 12.
