Before the last home game of the season, several fall sports teams held senior night at Jimmy Carey Stadium in front of family, friends, and community in the stands. This game was also the Senior night for Football, Cheer, Band, Dance, Golf, and Cross Country. The football team also has their first playoff game of the season on November 11th.

As the football, band, cheer, cross country, dance and golf seniors were announced, they walked across the 50-yard line, and the announcer read important details about them, such as their name, how long they have been in the following sport, where they want to go to college, and what they want to be with their lives.

The seniors had so many mixed thoughts and feelings on Senior Night.

Arissa Waugh stated, “I was super excited, but also really nervous. Walking down the football field was amazing and I was super excited to be a part of that!”

Jude Smith stated, “I was very excited and it feels different that I am now a senior. I felt very honored and glad to be a part of such a cool event.”

Izzy Bernola stated, “It was a very happy moment for me because I am very happy to be graduating and I’m very excited to be moving on from Weir High School to WVU.”

Tucker Smith stated, “For me it was a mix of sad and happy because I hate this school but I love the band and I will miss it more than anything.”

Elijah Anderson stated, “I was super happy because it was such a fun moment, but sad because it was my last time walking across the field.”

With the wrap of Senior night and most of the fall sports, seniors now have to look ahead at the rest of their senior year. They will continue to make many more memories and finish off their year strong.
