English teacher Jamie Truax was selected as favorite teacher at Weir in a recent survey. Administration and students enjoy his company as an English teacher, and he’s made a big impact on the school.
Truax has made many students days better and brings positivity to the classroom. Students were asked why they chose Truax as their favorite teacher.
Freshman David Bash stated, “Because he is a more of a laid back teacher and is more clam and chill…as long as you get your work done and pay attention in his class. That’s why Mr. Truax is my favorite.”
Administration also appreciate his impact on Weir. Assistant principal Kelly Lawton states, “Truax has been a great asset to the Weir High School family. The kids really respect him, and he has a excellent report with the students. We’re really blessed he’s here.”
Truax has been lighting up students day for his past three years of teaching, but even he had doubts about the teaching career.
Truax stated,” I’ve always thought about it, but I went through a phase where I wasn’t as serious. When I got a little older, I went back to it, which I’m glad I waited because I wouldn’t have been ready.”
Truax went to Robert Morris College and started substitute teaching for a few different schools, but Weir was his first permanent position He said, “ I’m glad it was.”
