Although it came out 10 years ago, Lemony Snicket’s book series All The Wrong Questions is still one of my favorite reads. The first book in the tetralogy, which is being reviewed is Who Could That Be at This Hour?

The book series follows the adventures of Lemony Snicket and S. Theodora Markson. The author never reveals what the S stands for. Snicket is working as Markson’s apprentice trying to solve the mysteries of Stain’d- By- The- Sea and the Bombinating Beast statue. Theodora is ranked 52nd out of 52 as a chaperone, and that’s who Lemony Snicket gets stuck with. When Markson and Snicket get hired on by Mrs. Sallis to steal the Bombinating Beast statue, everything flips upside down, and they get wrapped up with Ellington Feint, Hangfire, and the rightful owners of the statue the Mallahans.

The plot keeps people on their toes. It keeps everyone wondering who going to get the statue and what’s Hangfire up to now.  Lemony Snicket keeps you wondering what are him and S. Theodora Markson going to get into. It makes  everyone say “why did you do that?”or “ no don’t trust them.” Although, there is a couple of questions that are left in mind like, who were those people and is Ellington Feint telling the truth.

The characters don’t have much backstory. The only people who get somewhat of a backstory is Moxie Mallahan and Lemony Snicket. The rest of the characters just kinda appear an there’s no information about them. The characters really fit into the story and help advance the story. Even though it’s only 258 pages the characters definitely provide you with a range of emotions when they’re talked about.

The Mallahans wrote for the newspaper, and their family is tied to the Bombinating Beast. Ellington Feint is living by herself after Hangfire kidnapped her dad and seems to have ulterior motives. Dashell Qwerty is the town’s librarian, which is a fill in since there’s not another librarian. Prosper Lost is the town’s  hotel attendant. The Salís are a rich family, who is found out to have moved out many months before the Bombinating Beast becomes an interest in the town.S. Theodora Markson is part of a chaperone program which helps solve problems in different parts of the world. And the main character Lemony Snicket, which is Markson’s apprentice, can figure things out pretty quickly. However; he can also be oblivious at the same time.

The All The Wrong Questions series is such a good series and a great read. I’ve loved the series since it came out. Even though there’s points where I get frustrated or ask why are you doing that? I would recommend the book to people and would give it a 4/5 stars. I wish the book was explained more, and the book was longer but that’s my only setbacks.
